This is important because, Time Banks are great but they have not scaled or made use of their real potential on the internet. While with crowd funding sites there is no way to donate time and skills.
The prototype our team has built is able to bake promises into a decentralised ledger that potentially lasts forever, scales globally and it's accessible to everyone.
This makes these pledges a real commitment, as your children and grand children, will be able to view them as a public record.
It's a new form of Time Bank, What's new about it is that it is not a platform - it is a protocol, based on a distributed ledger, maintained by a community of users, not a server maintained by an admin.
The blockchain as a globally accessible secure and verifiable ledger facilitates interoperability between time banks.
This forms the basis of a new and important form of reputation, that we hope and indeed expect users to take seriously.
Kickstarters, and equity crowd funding are equally fantastic - but do nothing to tap the enormous potential help available to projects in terms of skills and soft contributions.
Finally we are linking these transactions to robust identities based on prototype created by Melvyn Carvalho. This allows us to achieve portability and to operate at a global scale.
